Malinalco 2022-2024
SINCE MY TIME LIVING IN MALINALCO, I HAVE LOOKED UPON MYTHS AND LEGENDS THAT ENCOMPASS THIS REGION IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND THE MEMORY MOUNTAINS AND BODIES OF WATER HOLD. I´VE COME ACROSS “ANCHANE”, THE GODDESS WHO LIVES IN THE WATER AND IS OFTEN DEPICTED AS A WOMAN-SNAKE WITH DIVINATORY POWERS.
AS A WAY OF APPROACHING THE IMPACT THIS REGION HAS HAD ON ITS PEOPLE AND ON MYSELF, I ENCOUNTER THEIR SPIRITUAL VISION THAT LEADS ME NOT ONLY TO RECOGNIZE NATURE´S BEAUTY AND STRENGTH, BUT ALSO TO ACT UPON THE URGENCY TO REPAIR ITS BOND WITHIN OURSELVES AND THE WORLD.
MY WORK HAS ALWAYS BEEN SHAPED BY A DEEP CURIOSITY ABOUT NATURE AND ITS INHERENT MAGIC. I CONTINUALLY QUESTION OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE TERRITORIES WE INHABIT, WHILE ALSO CONSIDERING THE FEMALE BODY AS A TERRITORY EQUALLY AT STAKE.
